Top CEO salary at GLC.

Government linked company or GLC play a crucial role in privatisation of Malaysia. It should bring about some degree of control to improve services to the public with the government having a say in its direction. Having the salaries of these positions made public should pave a way for greater transparency and accountability. IHH Healthcare, Malayan Banking, Axiata Group and CIMB Group Holdings are very successful entities judging from the CEO compensation. Those working there would have to be compensated equally well. Only if there were systems that compensates all level of staff equally. It is a GLC after all. Looking forward to more statistics on salary between all level of staff in the GLC  mentioned.

A Malaysia exposes human trafficking in Johor Bahru

The title says it all. I was sad to hear about Lily who is on Youtube with the handle Polaris Northern Star . Seen her post before but didn't take much notice. From what is found online, Lily is a Melanau from Sarawak and in 2011 she had escaped via Johor Bahru to Singapore. This was with a friend who believed she was economically exploited and abused in Johor Bahru. Unfortunately while at Johor Bahru, some police officer had abused Lily physically and locked her up. Her passport is confirmed real by local authorities and recently she have obtained refugee status and is living somewhere in Europe. The Borneo Post on  12th May 2018 published " Alleged refugee of Sarawakian Melanau descent pleads for help ", and made a request for anyone who knows her to come forward. Astro Awani on 13th May 2018 published " Dakwaan 'pelarian' Malaysia terkandas di Jerman masih dalam siasatan " that an investigation by Immigration is ongoing. This reflects that there...

Felda management overlooked what they had?

Seems so strange and a pity that majority of those who are able to make a difference continue to allow the nation's wealth to be raided. I am sure not all of the leaders and in office are bad, but the good ones are yet to step up and put a stop to what looks like a downward spiral of Malaysia's wealth and economic growth. The few characters (citizen and non-citizen) who could have taken the step on moral ground and legal obligation are missing in this crazy all night disco-like party that has been running even before 2016. Its left with the citizens as the losers. https://www.themalaysianinsight.com/s/29604/ I am sure the list of  strange mismanagement are longer that what is here The infamous 1MDB. How is the Kementerian Kewangan still having to pay for all the losses? Which they seem to have secured some funds to commit repayment due in December 2017. It is strange that a prime land is sold to 1MDB at RM60 psf that eventually was sold back to the GLC at RM3,000 ...

Did Malaysian Minister of Defence echo a call to arms?

Over the start of December 2017, the Malaysian Minister of Defence made a shocking declaration that caught news around the world. It is scary that a minister indicates the country will interfere with another country's internal affairs. Even Russia doesn't outright declare any direct involvement in its neighbouring conflicts. https://www.themalaysianinsight.com/s/27202/ CNBC https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/10/trump-israel-capital-malaysian-military-ready-to-support-jerusalem-defense-minister-says.html Aljazeera http://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2017/12/jerusalem-malaysia-army-ready-play-role-171210083417291.html

What to do with suspicious phone number?

Its a lazy Saturday morning and a call comes in. Looked at the phone and the number that is displayed is surely a land line phone number but its not familiar. There is a brief hesitation, its ringing and ringing. There are many news of International phone numbers being used for scams, and this is a local number. Without much further thought, the phone is answered. A short chat and its confirmed the call is from telemarketing business. How did they get my number? A short call to the telco and it looks like I have to pay to enable some sort of process to stop that particular call or I can use the mobile phone's blacklist feature to drop calls from that number. If its registered as a private phone number, nothing much can be done. On most Android mobile phone's its just a matter of selecting that number, long press till the menu is displayed to blacklist the number. Select it and your are done. Is there something more that can be done? Considering crime index places Malaysia...

Pressure on Kassim Ahmad, 84

The justice system works but when local religious authorities are vexed, there will be no love or compassion. The Malaymail Online reported on 10 Oct 2017, on the death of Kassim Ahmad. A citizen blog, question if the local religious department have labeled him as undeserving to receive grace from their god. https://akarimomar.wordpress.com/2017/10/10/mendiang-atau-allahyarham-kassim-ahmad/ A more detailed article on Pak Kassim is found here . Typically, here is a man willing to discuss his views but none are willing to openly debate. Instead, use on censorship and local religious laws are taken. A long time ago, it would have been understandable, but in this day its a pity to chain great minds. Since there is a grave shortage.
