There were mixed reactions to the announcement on Volvo being bought by Geely and to be locally assembled in Malaysia. It was a bashing by the 2017 ruling government that Proton, as a national car failed. Personal attack on the ex Prime Minister was uncalled for in justifying selling Proton to Geely, the Chinese owned business. It would have been a plus if more effort was made to highlight benefits from selling a locally grown entity to a foreign business.
