Easter Suicide Bomb in Lahore

Without love, what is man? On 27 March 2016, a suicide bomber caused the death of over 72 people at a park in Pakistan. Reading the many articles describes the lack of love and compassion for our fellow humans. On 28 March 2016, The Guardian wrote  Lahore bombing victims buried as grief turns to anger over safety of Christians There is something of deep concern when anyone can justify killing children and women at the playgrounds. There is a feeling not of anger but a deep pain inside of me. Yes, these murders are happening more frequently across the globe, only the few that is highlighted. At a glance these murderers and suicide committers have no love of life. What drives them? Who knows? I see that it could be due to an ideology, systematic programming of the mind, threats to their love ones, poverty, despair or maybe a psychological disorder. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seekin

Frank Swettenham's Thoughts on Malay Superstitions

There are records by Frank Swettenham on Malays or also know as Melayu are people of from Malaya in his book. One particular topic of interest is on the local superstitions in Chapter XVII of his book. Lot of traditional elements are mentioned but dispelling of evil spirits had included traditional and reference to god for assistance. There were spirits by name of Bajang, Polong, Pelsit, Langsuior. Bajang Pelsit Polong Langsuir Makes one wonder, does everyone in Kedah those days keep a Pelsit? There is a nice short description of how Jin, Hantu and Bajang originated. Who would have thought that the story of Adam from Genesis would have been related to these occurrences? The Sumatran men who have skills on transformation, are Korinchi. Something that is seen in many animation movies but who would have thought these were from a land so far away. In this book, its also good to read the account of an English man with the services of a Arab astrologer to find

Malaysian Police and death of 14 year old

Who does the Inspector General of Police serve? The Malaysian Police services have improved lots over the last 10 years. Technology, practices and improvement on facilities for the police would play a role, just a thought. The recent article on how the IGP is found guilty on charges on public misfeasance regarding shooting to death of a 14 year old boy is a great victory for the family of the deceased. However, an article from Malaysiakini reminded the public of how the police force lied and twisted facts and now are not accountable of their actions. See  https://m.malaysiakini.com/news/335296 Who was this 14 year old? His name is Aminulrasyid Amzah and in 2010 he was shot to death by a police with Heckler dan Koch HK MP 5. The car driven by the victim was reported to have been riddled with 32 bullets (or 21 bullets, depending on the articles). For some reason unknown, the 14 year old had decided not to stop and that led to a car chase (he is deceased). For some reason unknown

Thing we do to find good health

The more money you have, the more easily it is to fall for scams relating to health care products. Following are just some thoughts during a long 2 hours drive recently. Medicinal scams seem to appear either as a treatment or for health care products for the uninformed or ill-informed. Most people either want to look good or have better health. Placebo effect is identified as a recognised treatment in the medical profession. There are dangers of placebo where a patient feels better and delays getting treatment for some serious infections. An article of research into placebo can be found at Harvard Magazine, The Placebo Phenomenon dated January-February 2013. "Kaptchuk and his team have begun to take steps in that direction, continuing to ask new questions and push the boundaries of placebo research. A study published online this past year in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences demonstrated that the placebo response can occur even at the unconscious level
