SEA Games 2017

The South East Asian (SEA) Games 2017 is hosted in Malaysia and runs from 19th Aug to 30th Aug 2017. The official website is Kuala Lumpur 2017 and keeps an updated list of events for the 38 sports joined by 11 countries. Its opening was well organised and there was good coverage/broadcast to promote the event.

Most notable international news isn't of the type expected but of blunders in the media, where flags are wrongly displayed. Obvious unhappiness is displayed as several Malaysian private and government websites being defaced.

Even the host country isn't spared as a wrong flag is displayed for Malaysian swimmer Keith Lim. Or the media knew something we were not aware of.

Latest medal tally, indicates that Malaysian athletics are much more prepared than the promoters and media of SEA games. Too much of dependency for news updates from twitter and facebooks might have caused the lack of attention to these errors.

Medal Tally as of 28.8.2017
On 20.8.2017, a bus accident involving Mynmar, Phillipines and Thailand squash teams came unexpected in the wee morning hours. Even with a police escort, both buses transporting the SEA game teams still managed to collide into each other. In terms of athletics, only 2 sustained injuries, but not much details are known. Total of 9 gold medals are available for squash event.

"Beng Choo disclosed that the KL2017 squash tournament will be revised. No matches were held this morning due to the accident." Retrieved on 21.8.2017 from MASOC, police probing Sea Games bus accident, New Straits Times.

One could hope that the worst is over, with another 2 more days till the closing. With the many free seat events, more people will have a chance to be part of the SEA Games 2017.

Kota Gelanggi the Lost City

Its confusing, the history of Malaysia. An article in 2010, mentioned that Kota Gelanggi in Johor, Malaysia was a evidence that Srivijaya and its Buddhist empire was in Malaysia way before Parameswara arrived. See A small piece of History for our future generation . Lukey took the effort to determine if the above story was true and concluded that it might be a cut-and-paste for political/ill-intend purpose. See The Lost City of Kota Gelanggi Archeological Find - (The First Immigrants to Malaysia) . Another author goes on a search and details interesting findings. This includes the Department of National Museum, declaring that there is no evidence of any ancient civilisation.
